The Process
Building a website of this size and complexity requires a lot of research, planning, and communication. Throughout the process, we stayed in close contact with the client to make sure all content was successfully moved from the old site to the new one.
We also made sure existing URL structures were preserved for SEO and that there were no broken links or downtime for students or faculty.
Along with the 500 pages and more than 1,000 blogs, we also built several more technical features to make the site easier for faculty and staff to manage. One of these was a custom employee directory. When the client requested this feature, we spent time researching and planning how to make it as simple as possible for staff to use. Our goal was to create a system where any staff member could add their information in just a few minutes without having to worry about styling or formatting anything. The directory automatically styles the information as it is entered and includes a custom filtering system for easy lookups. This was built using the ACF plugin for WordPress.
We also created an events calendar using MEC Calendar, giving faculty a simple way to manage and update events.
Once the project was complete, we provided detailed training for faculty to help them feel comfortable managing the new site.
